Outdoor displays often rely on increasing fan speed to deal with rising temperatures. While effective, this approach comes at the cost of higher noise levels, increased energy consumption and unnecessary wear on the electronics.

Why Noise Matters 

Cooling noise is often overlooked during specification, yet it directly affects the environment where a display operates. Whether installed in a city center, shopping district, public transport hub or hospitality venue, quieter operation creates a better experience for both users and the surrounding community. Lower noise is also an indicator of a more efficient cooling system, not simply slower fans.

How we achieved quieter operation: 

Dual Stage Cooling

Optimized air flow in imotion DOOH

1. Intelligent Airflow 

Instead of relying on higher fan speeds, imotion DOOH optimizes the movement of air throughout the enclosure. By reducing airflow resistance and distributing cooling where it's needed most, the system achieves the same thermal performance with less effort.  

2. Dual-Stage Cooling 

The Dual-Stage Cooling System operates in two stages. During normal operating conditions, primary cooling maintains optimal temperatures with minimal noise (lower than 50 dB).

Only when additional cooling capacity is required, such as during combination of direct sunlight and high ambient temperatures, does the secondary stage activate.

This staged operation ensures that the fans run only when needed, reducing noise and energy consumption during normal operation.

3, Engineered Fan Placement 

Noise is influenced by more than the fan itself. The position of the fans, the geometry of the airflow channels and the design of the fan housing all affect acoustic performance. 

For imotion DOOH, these elements have been carefully optimized to minimize turbulence and unwanted noise while maintaining efficient airflow.

4. Proven by Testing

Internal testing in the SRS Solar Radiation Simulator has demonstrated up to 50% quieter operation compared with comparable outdoor display solutions. The result is an outdoor display that performs reliably under demanding conditions without becoming an unwanted source of background noise.



Quiet Operation is a Result Of Efficient Engineering

Many outdoor displays become louder as temperatures rise because cooling systems compensate by increasing fan speed.

At Infinitus our objective was different. Rather than adding more fans or simply running them faster, we redesigned the airflow itself. By improving how air moves through the enclosure and introducing intelligent Dual-Stage Cooling, we achieved the required thermal performance with significantly lower acoustic output.
